A woman was killed and two people were injured in a house fire in Hempstead, NY Monday.
One man who jumped from the second floor suffered a back and neck injuries, while another sustained serious burns to his hands and face, CBS2 reported.
Firefighters were unable to reach a woman in the second floor due to conditions. Her body was recovered later in the afternoon. Several other adults and children escaped the fire.
Officials said more than 50 firefighters were on the scene trying to put it out and get people to safety.
"It's really sad. I never saw something like that in my life," a neighbor said. "I just think of these people, if they don't have no place to go."
The Nassau County fire marshal told reporters the cause is under investigation.
